Analysis of Half Diallel Mating Designs I – A Practical Analysis Procedure for ANOVA Approximation

چکیده
Monoterpene patterns of different larch species (Larix deci-dua, Larix kaempferi, Larix sibirica, Larix gmelinii). In: Results and future trends in larch breeding on the basis of provenance research. Abstract Procedures to analyze half-diallel mating designs using the SAS statistical package are presented. The procedure requires two runs of PROC VARCOMP and results in estimates of additive and non-additive genetic variation. The procedures described can be modified to work on most statistical software packages which can compute variance component estimates. The procedure is relatively simple and provides unbiased estimates for balanced designs and gives good approximations for unbalanced data.

Genetic Study of Agronomic Traits in Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) Using Hayman’s Graphical Analysis of Diallel
For the purpose of graphical analysis and estimation of genetic parameters related to yield and its components, six tobacco genotypes was crossed in half -diallel mating design. In this study, the F2 progenies and their parents were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results of analysis of variance indicated a significant difference between genotypes fo...
متن کاملOptimal Designs for Best Linear Unbiased Prediction in Diallel Crosses
Most of the available results on optimal block designs for diallel crosses are based on standard linear model assumptions where the general combining ability effects are taken as fixed. In many practical situations, this assumption may not be tenable since often one studies only a sample of inbred lines from a possibly large (hypothetical) population. Recently Ghosh and Das (2003) proposed a ra...

This paper presents a step-by-step approach in statistical and genetic analysis applied in diallel mating design using Griffing’s experimental Method II, Model II. A two-step approach is developed and implemented in order to assist the researchers in statistical and genetic analysis of diallel crossing using Griffing’s experimental Method II, Model II. The approach is exemplified on the corolla...
متن کاملGenetic analysis of Biochemical and Physiological Traits using Haymen’s Graphical Approach in Lines and F2 Progenies of Maize (Zea mays L.)
The diallel mating design is an important tool used by plant breeding programs to obtain information on trait inheritance. Knowledge of gene action, heritability and genetic advance from selection is a prerequisite for starting a breeding program for developing varieties of maize. Five maize S7 lines and their F2 progenies were studied in a 5 × 5 half-diallel crossing design to evaluate the gen...
متن کاملA blocking Gibbs sampling method to detect major genes with phenotypic data from a diallel mating.
Diallel mating is a frequently used design for estimating the additive and dominance genetic (polygenic) effects involved in quantitative traits observed in the half- and full-sib progenies generated in plant breeding programmes. Gibbs sampling has been used for making statistical inferences for a mixed-inheritance model (MIM) that includes both major genes and polygenes. However, using this ap...
